What you should know about Tom Taber Duck Decoys

June 29, 2010 by GuestPoster · Leave a Comment

Tom Taber’s name might be familiar to those who are into decoy collectibles, or have ever bought duck and goose decoys for hunting. Whether you are a collector or a hunter, you should know about his work if you plan on using the best quality pieces for either activity. He has been making carvings of wildlife, especially birds, and the level of perfection is just astonishing on any of the pieces carrying his name. The price is not a budget breaker, either so why would you pass up on them?

Tom Taber duck decoys are popular amongst both hunters and collectors, and they’re not unheard of to convert the former to the latter. They bear sings of elaborate attention to details, and that’s what makes them more valuable than their actual price, which is from $50 to $200 each. You can identify one of his ducks easily just by looking at the colors. They’re life-like as they should be, but the stain used doesn’t hide the wood completely. Every grain or impurity in the material can be seen and makes every piece a unique creation. They’re all hand finished by himself, so they’re bound to be unique and one of a kind.

Hunters know that they need to use the decoy that resembles the specie they’re hunting for because ducks and geese have became very reluctant to go near anything where they sense human. You would definitely notice if a goose went through your living room, and that’s exactly how they feel when they spot the hunter. They need to put into a peace of mind with life-like decoys and for that a Tom Taber is perfectly fine. They look just like real ducks from about 10 feet away and that’s what the skilled waterfowl hunter needs. There are many different types available and you can buy them for a very reasonable price each.

These carvings are most often used as a center piece or a fine addition to the design of a living room. If you already have plants in your room, wood carvings are more than welcome, as they give a feel of nature to anyone who enters the room. With its elaborate patterns and design you will collect the compliments.

Tom Taber duck decoys have been on the market for thirty years and represent the love for hunting in the North American culture. They come from years of experience as a hunter rose in Michigan, and to have a successful season or two, that’s probably all you need.

Tony Romo Rookie Card A Must Have

February 3, 2010 by GuestPoster · Leave a Comment

Tony Romo, star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, has had a relatively long (6 years) but controversial career. Despite a label saying that he can’t win the big games, this high profile player has nevertheless become a very recognizable NFL player. As an undrafted player out of Eastern Illinois in 2003, Romo has an exceptionally large number of trading cards devoted to him. The Tony Romo rookie card has eighteen different varieties which is an amazing feat for a player that was not drafted and was on the verge of being released.
Out of all the different types of cards, the Tony Romo card that is the most valuable is either the Playoff Contender #156 or the SP Authentic #217. The Playoff Contender has cards numbered to 999 and the SP Authentic numbers 1200 but the main reason that these cards are so valuable is because they are autographed editions.
As with all other types of football cards, the margin between the least expensive card and the most expensive one is great. All are readily available through various internet sites. There are four choices available when selecting the Tony Romo rookie card that is the most affordable for card buyers. The 2003 Ultra #182, the 2003 Upper Deck MVP #341, the 2003 Fleer Tradition #299, and the 2003 Bowman #171 are easily obtained and can be purchased at reasonable prices.
On the other hand, the four most expensive cards are usually a completely different story. These high end cards, the 2003 SP Authentic Auto #217, the 2003 Playoff Contender #156, the 2003 Leaf Rookies and Stand Auto #205, and the 2003 SP Game Used may not only be scarce but also pricey. It is typically the serious card collector that is interested in these cards and the price will not scare them off. Less interested buyers will certainly get a dose of sticker shock when they see the asking price. A few of these cards will command a price of more than one thousand dollars; these cards are not for the faint at heart.
It is uncertain how much the Tony Romo Rookie card will grow in value. If he has a great deal of success over the next few seasons, the card may become a great investment. If he doesn’t do well or gets hurt, the value of the card may drop. One thing is clear, Romo will remain a colorful figure in pro football and this will only add to the value of his card.

Two Popular Collectible Dolls

December 27, 2009 by GuestPoster · Leave a Comment

Doll collecting has been around as a hobby for many years.  There are all types of doll collectors out there, and many of them focus on just one style of doll or another.  There is no “right” doll to collect if you are just starting out.  You might choose to start a collection based on a certain style of doll or some specific brand that catches your eye.  Some people just work with the informal collection they built up as children and add to it as they get older.  Collecting dolls does not have to be based on building the long term value of a collection, but it is quite possible to do if you choose your dolls wisely.

There are, of course, people who collect the well known brands, such as Barbie and her friends.  These dolls can be quite valuable depending on the particular doll.  A vintage Barbie number 1 doll may command several thousand dollars at auction.  eBay, one of the more common sites for buying and selling vintage Barbie dolls, recently hosted such an auction in which the doll sold for over six thousand dollars.  This of course, was for an original Barbie Doll that even still had its original hair setting.  Also included were the original box and some original vintage Barbie Accessories.  Finding a doll in such fanatic condition is pretty rare.

Other people are not so much interested in the age of the doll, but rather, in how the doll looks and feels.  Reborn baby dolls are a relatively recent addition to doll collecting.  These dolls are amazingly lifelike.  They are designed and actually assembled and painted by doll artists who use very specialized methods and materials to produce dolls which, very often, can actually fool people into thinking they are actual living babies.  These dolls are made to look and feel like actual human babies.  Some of these are actually equipped to make sounds and even have an artificial heartbeat.  They are really something to see, but they can be quite expensive because of the work involved in producing one.

Naruto Cards

The Naruto cards are published by Bandai. The card game is based heavily on the animated Naruto series on TV. Naruto cards came out in late 2006. Naruto is a dueling turn based game where players battle using ninja cards, Mission cards, Client cards, and Jutsu cards. The point of the whole game is to get the other player to run out of cards completely. If you can not make your opponent run out of cards, you can also win by having ten battle rewards before your opponent. In an instance when both players meet the requirements to win at the same time, the wind goes to the attacking player at the time.

Each player gets a deck of fourty cards that they get to custom make, there are different rules with different expansions to what you can mix. Each player takes a turn drawing and attacking. When attacking, you look at the bottom set of numbers on the card. One of the numbers says a cards attack points and one of the numbers says a cards defense points, some cards are different. During the attack you look at the attackers attack points and the defenders defense points. Which card has a higher number wins the attack. Some cards also have special abilities that take place at different times; such as a stun ability or the power to redirect damage.

Some cards do not have data and defend points, they are simply feature cards. These cards will sometimes handicap the other players. The combination of cards in Naruto is extraordinary, the game is great for all ages. Mom and dad will love to play, older brother and sister won’t mind and the young ones will love it.

Naruto is not to kiddish, yet it is not too violent either. Besides the attack phazes and some crazy art work, Naruto is not a violent game at all. The cards are all designed very well and they are all very intriguing, you will love the game if you love card games. Naruto is a great way to pass the time and there are plenty of people playing it, the worst thing is to get into a game that is outdated.

There are always new boosters coming out for Naruto and all sorts of new additions, so game play is always fresh and exciting. Jump into Naruto and see what every one is talking about, see why Naruto cards get such a high rating. Naruto is catching on more and more every day. Kids are playing Naruto at school, at summer camp, and at recreation. It’s possible to find cheap Naruto booster packs online if you know where to look.

Fans of the Naruto cartoons will be happy to hear that the Naruto cards are made to make the game feel like the TV show. For instance, characters that get beat up a lot in the cartoon, will play out considerably weaker than other cards in the game. This keeps it so that people who are more familiar with the story can take advantage of their knowledge when playing with Naruto cards.
