The Career of a Firefighter

People who put out fires, administer first aid, and rescue people in emergencies are known as firefighters. They evacuate both people and property from accident scenes and protect them from further harm. Firefighters are classified as urban, wild land and industrial firefighters. Combined with the risk is excitement and variety. Helping people should be a passion a firefighter has. Excellent shape is broken down to agility, strength and physical fitness which are a must. Before starting on training, people must undergo medical tests which will determine their enrollment. In the next couple paragraphs, I will cover the basics of how to become a firefighter.
A high school certificate will be required for one to join college. A foreign language will be a plus for the firefighter. A civil service examination will be sat by the candidates. It will now be possible for them to study a Fire Science course in a college or university. A degree in fire science will take four years to complete and they will graduate then. Firefighters to be will be required to get internship with a fire fighting firm. This will serve as preparation for them as they wait to join the industry. As this job requires stamina, people will have to be physically fit.
Apart from firefighting classes, medical emergency is also taught as it forms the basis of fire fighting training. Firefighters have a duty of educating the public and they must be skilled in fire safety procedures to be able to lead by example. In order for a firefighter to graduate, he must sit and pass the final exam after the four year training. Apprenticeship is the other form of firefighting training and its well accepted around the world. People watch professionals at work and get to learn by copying. This training may take five years depending on the institution after which employment is possible.
