Two Main Types of Flies for Fly Fishing

July 19, 2010 by GuestPoster · Leave a Comment

There are thousands of patterns of flies for fly fishing. Fly patterns generally try to imitate real insects or small fish in or on top of the water. By watching or learning about the animal that the fly you are fishing is based on, you will know how to fish with your fly.

The two main types of fly patterns include dry flies and wet flies.

Dry flies sit on top of the water and are meant to imitate insects that are able to stay on top of the water due to their surface tension. When fishing with a dry fly, you will want to use floating fly line. Most dry flies are made from material meant to keep them water-resistant. The Outdoor Adventure Guide recommends giving them a quick rubdown with dry fly floatant. This will keep your fly dry and on top of the water while fishing. If your fly does become too damp to remain on the surface, false casting with it for a few minutes should be sufficient to get it dry again.

Wet flies sit either just below the surface or go deeper. Since they are meant to imitate a real insect or small fish in water, they should appear to swim, float, drift, emerge or feign injury in the water. Depending on which action you are going for, you will want fly line that floats, has sinking-tip or full-sinking line.

On calm water, you will want to present your fly wherever you can see or you think fish are. Let the fly sink to the right depth, and then begin taking the action needed for the fly to appear to have the movement of the creature it is imitating. In moving water, you will want to cost your fly upstream of where you believe fish are, so that the fly will sink to the appropriate depth and appear to be drifting in front of the fish as it goes downstream. Learning to roll cast can be especially helpful in this situation.

Advantage of a Spring Airsoft Revolvers

Airsoft revolvers comes in many styles and one that I would like to talk about are the Spring Airsoft revolvers. The other styles that you may be familiar with are the electric and gas powered revolvers. Each three have their advantage and disadvantage. I have played the sport of Airsoft for 2 year now and always carried a spring powered Airsoft revolver and I’ll tell you why in this article.

The spring airsoft revolver is powered by a compressed spring when it’s cocked back. The beauty about the spring powered revolvers is that you can upgrade the springs and make your revolver shot faster and stronger, which also means longer distances. The drawback about these spring revolvers are the fact that the springs them selves get worn out and will fail on you by jamming up your revolver. That is why I always recommend cleaning your revolver after every use.

Another advantage of the Airsoft spring revolver is they are extremely light weight and easily concealable. I would have to say that the spring revolver is about the same weight as the gas revolver with the co2 tank attached. Having a light weight handgun is very helpful when playing on the field where you are constantly running around and needing to maneuver quickly. The last thing you want is to be bogged down by heavy airsoft guns and risk getting shot because you are too slow.

In conclusion, spring Airsoft revolvers are easily customizable because of the spring that is powering the revolver, just by swapping out the spring to a more quality spring, you can improve the shooting range and power of the revolver. The light weightiness of the spring Airsoft revolvers allows a Airsoft player to move more freely which prevents him from getting shot or find cover.

Biometric Handgun Safe For Quick Access Home Defense

January 9, 2010 by GuestPoster · Leave a Comment

If you’re serious about home defense, you need an easy way to get to your pistol in a hurry to protect yourself and your family.  Of course, at the same time, you want to make certain that those who shouldn’t have access to it, for example, your children, don’t.  The solution here is simple, a biometric handgun safe.

Using fingerprint reading technology, one can access their pistol with the simple swipe of a finger.  Whether using it for casual everyday access, or in a potentially life threatening situation where every second matters, the gun safe won’t open for anyone else but the finger(s) for which it was programmed, and it does it faster than any other style lock on the market.

Quickness is the main appeal for a biometric gun safe, as there may be a situation, as in the case of the aforementioned, where you don’t have the time to fumble around in the dark, or worry about punching in the wrong combination.  Fingerprint safes can be easily opened with even looking at the scanner.  This makes them ideal for bedside access, should you be put in the unfortunate situation where it’s needed in such swift demand.

Most biometric safes on the market come with the option to store multiple fingerprints, enabling you, and any other responsible member of your household to get into the handgun box when needed.  In addition to granting access to different family members, it’s also a good idea to scan in the patterns of your individual fingerprints.  This way, should there be a misread, or a poor angle of access, you can swipe an additional finger without a problem.

I should note, that although these safes are fantastic for the purpose they serve, they aren’t generally full proof.  I wouldn’t advise in storing irreplaceable valuables in a fingerprint handgun safe, as a burglar with enough determination and experience won’t have too tough of a time breaking in, or removing the whole thing.  That said, if you’re concerned with home security, and need a building block for your family’s last line of defense, you should strongly consider a biometric pistol safe.
