Collecting Wall Clocks

Today decorative clocks possess dual roles. First like any other clock they keep and tell the time. Its second role is as an accent when decorating a home or office. However, did you know that clocks are highly sought after collectibles? Collecting goes back thousands of years and can be traced back through ancient records and books. Collecting has always appealed to humans as long as the items are appealing or fascinating. Over the last two hundred years there has been a huge explosion of people jumping into the collecting hobby.
Some of the most popular objects being collected today are cards, stamps, coins, dolls and clocks, just to name a few. However, just about anything can be a collectible (even McDonalds toys). Wall clocks have been especially popular recently. Lots of folks are making money collecting clocks. But some people also collect clocks just because they love clocks and the pleasure of collecting them. It doesn’t matter whether you’re collecting clocks to make a profit or for the pleasure of it, the common denominator is that you have to enjoy doing it. That’s because when you first start out you may only be able to collect a few. If you get frustrated by this, then clock collecting may not be for you.
If you truly love collecting clocks, you need to determine the type of wall clock you want to collect. Think of a theme to help organize your collection. As an example, you may have a love for pendulum wall clocks and only want to collect these. Once you know what type of clock you’re after, you can start your search for that first piece for your collection. You can check in antique stores or even on eBay. If you travel a lot keep your eyes open, this is a fabulous way to find antique clocks.
