Royalty free means being able to use the same image over and over without having to pay additionally for it. Royalty free images are cropping up everywhere on the internet. Once it has been purchased and the license acquired, you are able to use the image a bunch without incurring additional fees. However, in the rights managed area you are only able to use the image during the license period you sign up for. Out of the two, rights managed photos are the more expensive. The cost depends on the image size and resolution, what you want it printed on, how long you want access to the image, if you want to be the only one who can use it, etc.
