Get Valuable Storage From A Trunk

Making the greatest use of the available storage space in the home is a constant battle, particularly when you find that you keep running out of it. Finding a place to put away all of your personal belongings on a permanent basis sometimes require the use of multi-functional items.

Buying extra cabinets, cupboards or wardrobes is not always the answer because eventually you are going to run out of floor space against the walls to house these large types of storage solutions. The answer may be a storage trunk such as a blanket chest or a steamer trunk. These types of storage containers can be positioned in places where larger furniture items can’t and they can also supply an added feature to the room apart from acting merely as storage.

If you need the storage in the bedroom it may be possible to place a trunk at the foot of the bed providing you with a handy place to sit or place pillows. If you want to make the trunk a more formal seating spot you can add cushions or a comforter to the lid so that it is a more padded place to sit.

Alternatively, you may like to use the trunk as a coffee table or a sideboard where the storage is still available but the trunk is placed in a position where it becomes one of the central features of the room. There is a great deal of room inside one of these blanket chests or steamer trunks, placing them in the middle of a lounge room is effectively placing your blankets, linen or spare clothes in the middle of the room with all of your family and guests.

Trunks and chests can be easily turned into decorative pieces with the sides and tops capable of being hand painted, carved or stained and polished. It can be turned into a thing of beauty while also providing you with a good deal of valuable storage.
