Heavyweight, Midweight, Lightweight Sweatshirts – The Differences Explained!

August 6, 2010 by GuestPoster

I am one of the greatest sweatshirt fans you’ll ever find! I was wearing sweatshirts back when they weren’t even popular. I’m talking more than twenty years ago here. Even in the eighties, I was already wearing sweatshirts. Ofcourse, back then they were especially meant for joggers, which I was at the time. Nowadays, sweatshirts aren’t just for playing sports anymore. They have gone mainstream and are now considered casual clothing. I now wear them all the time. As a matter of fact, I’m wearing this men’s adult best poly cotton hoodie pullover sweatshirt right now. I buy a few new sweatshirts every month. It’s a habit that’s hard to kick, with sweatshirt prices being so low and all.

A lot of people want to wear sweatshirts nowadays because they have become so popular. There is no stopping this hype. Sweatshirts used to come in heavyweight form only, but those days are gone. A shirt is said to be heavyweight when it is made of thick material and provides the wearer with a lot of warmth because of it. But because people now want to wear sweatshirts in every season of the year and not just the summer, midweight shirts such as the men’s double dry classic fleece full zip hoodie sweatshirt have been introduced on the market. But below midweight shirts, there are also lightweight shirts. These are even lighter and don’t really provide you with a lot of warmth at all.

This is completely okay, just so long as you wear your lightweight shirt in the summer. Lightweight shirts are very thin and they often do not come with a hood. This makes the lightweight shirt very light indeed. Thanks to lightweight shirts, it is now possible to wear sweatshirts even in the summer. Don’t even think about playing sports in them, because that’s not what they were meant for. Instead, wear lightweights just because they look good. If you ever consider playing outdoor sports in a sweatshirt, make sure you’re wearing either a midweight or a heavyweight. Only those two can give you decent protection from the outside cold!
