How to Make Money Using Your Own Website

February 11, 2010 by GuestPoster

Chances are, you’ve already heard something about how to make money online.  Maybe you’ve heard it can be done through search engines or through advertising.  Maybe you’ve just heard about all the scams out there, claiming to make you money (in exchange for a “registration fee,” or the price of “shipping and handling.”)  Well, here are a few ways you can legitimately make money on Google:

If you’ve already got a website up and running, but don’t have a lot of viewers, Google may be able to help you with that.  You can submit your site to Google to be indexed into their search engine results.  This means that your site will appear on relevant search pages.  This particular feature may not be the most effective way to go about making money from your site, however; it only increases your traffic – not your revenue directly – and it has been known to take a long time.

A more direct way of getting visitors to your site is through paid advertising.  Google has a program called AdWords that allows for this.  Google will post ads for your site on search engine result pages that are relevant to your website.  In exchange for this, you will pay a small fee to Google every time one of these ads is clicked on.  If your site is really worthwhile, this should still increase your revenue, because sales from your site will outdistance your advertising fees.

AdSense is another program that can make you a little money with Google.  Instead of paying Google to advertise your site, Google pays you to advertise someone else’s.  Google posts relevant ads on your website, and you can earn money for every click.  Granted, you won’t earn as much as the client is paying Google (since they still have to earn a profit,) but you will get a cut.
