Male Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

March 18, 2010 by GuestPoster

More than ever, male patients are appearing at the door steps of plastic surgery clinics and are continuing to do so for various reasons unique to the individual. Some patients are looking for a quick and instant way to sculpt a particular area of their body while others want to make certain features more prominent. While it may be considered an elective procedure because there is no direct health impact, gynecomastia is a big driver behind male cosmetic procedures. There are a few things we need to understand about the typical male patient and the procedure they receive in comparison to typical female procedures.

While we cannot say for sure how much gynecomastia costs will be for treatment because there can be differences between individual case, we do know that if it is a result of accumulation of fat in the area then liposuction is a good way to fix the problem. Most male liposuction procedures are in fact in areas such as the chest, abdomen, back or facial regions simply because in areas like the arms it is easy for a man to build muscle. Male patients often request treatment in areas that are harder to target with exercise. This also runs up the plastic surgery average cost for male patients because these areas tend to be tougher and more fibrous. This means more work and time is required of the surgeon to complete the procedure.

Another reason why it tends to cost more for men is because of the sheer difference in body size. Men in general are typically larger than their female counter parts and a larger treatment area will more times than not run up the cost. The good news is that it is becoming more acceptable in our society for a man to care about his personal appearance which opens the cosmetic surgery market to a large population of potential clients.
