We see it in grocery stores. We use it on our pancakes for breakfast. We even use this as an ingredient to a lot of other dishes. However, what most people do not realize is that maple syrup is actually a healthy alternative to our natural sweeteners. It is organic, it tastes great and it has many health benefits that most of us are not really aware of. If you still have doubts, read on and be amazed just how nutritious this syrup is.

For starters, organic maple candy is very rich in calcium. It has about the same calcium content as milk, but without the added fats. This natural sweetener is also rich in other vitamins and minerals like Vitamin B2, B5 and B6. It has ample amounts of magnesium to help the body absorb calcium as well as potassium that is good for the heart. Other nutrients that can be found in maple syrup are iron, copper, folic acid, niacin, phosphorous and biotin. Because of all these nutrients present in maple syrup, it is no wonder that this is one of the best anti-oxidants in the market today. Zinc and manganese which are ever present in this kitchen staple are the two ingredients that helps fight bad cholesterol and rich in enzymes that helps the cells reproduce energy.

If you are trying to get in shape and you feel guilty of using sugar in any of your dishes, then you know you have a healthier alternative. You can now set aside artificial sweeteners that may promise you a glucose-free diet but may bring in dangerous side-effects and replace these with an all-natural sweetener. Maple sugar can be used for desserts, dressings and drinks. Put it in your green tea or on top of your fruit salad instead of whipped cream and condensed milk. Now, you can be rid of your guilt and use this syrup to add sweetness to your life.

Have you just recently received a jar of pure maple syrup? You may find it intriguing on how to use it, or how to store it in a way that limits bacterial or mold growths. Well, as a matter of fact, maple syrups are very manageable to store and to use, only if you know how. Regarding that, reading online articles about maple syrup could help. Fortunately, this article has the same aim, so better read the following tips to make the best out from your Canadian maple sugar.

If made with careful examination, a pure maple will never freeze. In that case, the freezer may be the best place for you to store your maple syrup. In this place, bacteria and molds would not survive. Also, freezers block the entrance of too much light, protecting your maple syrup from rotting and spoiling. If you keep your maple syrup in this way unopened, it could last for at most two years. After storing it, if you would like to open it up and put it back to your freezer, it would last for another year, at most. Note, however, that this could only apply to the pure maple butters, not with the maple-flavored ones. With that, make sure that your syrup is originally and naturally made from saps from maple trees. On the other hand, if you would want to use your syrup to substitute your use of sugar in your baking needs, you can do that with confidence since pure maple syrup are three times sweeter than granulated sugar. In trying to use maple syrups as substitutions, note the following ratios: a cup of granulated sugar is equivalent to three-fourths cup of your pure syrup. For you not forget this, remember that the syrup is much sweeter than sugar, so it would be obvious that a lesser volume of syrup is needed to match a much bigger volume of sugar. Another note to remember is this: when substituting the syrup, relatively decrease all your liquid ingredients. Qualitatively, every cup of sugar used should lessen every liquid ingredient with three tablespoons. In this way, your product would not be like a wet sponge.

Pure maple syrup is a very powerful tool for baking, so make the most out of it.

Maple syrup has twice the calcium of milk and it is rich in manganese and zinc that is good for our body. Also, maple syrup contains less fat than honey so it is a perfect alternative even to coffee and tea for use as sweetener. If you want to enjoy maple on its own and not as a sweetener to pancakes and waffles, you can make you own candies.

For this one, you will be needing two cups of real maple butter. In a saucepan, allow the maple syrup to boil and monitor the temperature using a candy thermometer purchased in stores with baking equipments. When the syrup has already come to a boil, you should turn the heat low and let the syrup stand boiling. Avoid stirring the syrup since it will cause it to crystallize and to have solid particles. When you can already read 233 degrees in your thermometer, remove the pan from the heat and let it stand to allow it to cool. As with the former, refrain from stirring the saucepan. Monitor the temperature of your syrup and wait until it becomes 110 degrees. At this point, you can now use a spoon or spatula to beat the syrup which has been reduced. For several minutes, continue beating the syrup. This will make the syrup become stiff. The syrup will turn to a caramel like color and you can now make fun shapes out of it.

There are many fantastic candy molds that are perfect for your organic Canadian maple sugar. You can go with star shape, leaf shape or traditional lollipop shape. You can place sticks to even imitate lollipops and create maple delicacies which can appeal much to the children. If you do not have molds, you can create them into nice patties on a tray. Before enjoying the maple candy, be sure that is cool enough. For this recipe, you can make about one pound of confection.
