The Elegance of a Pave Diamond Ring

We have all seen them, beautiful, sparkling rings, encrusted with row after row of tiny diamonds. A gorgeous diamond ring like this, that you may have admired so much, is a pave diamond ring. The basic ring is constructed of a wide band with tiny diamonds spread across the surface, hence the name paved.
Each stone is set into place with tiny beads or miniature prongs. This minimizes the appearance of metal, while emphasizing the sparkle of the diamonds. Popular pave settings are made with platinum or white gold. Although, many people prefer the traditional elegance of a 14k gold ring. Utilizing so many small diamonds allows for several styles and designs. You can choose from the Tiffany, halo, pave set diamond, diamond cathedral, channel pave, bezel pave and the antique style.
There are three traditional paved designs from which to choose. A full paved ring has small diamonds inset around the entire ring. Half-paved settings, of course, only fill half the band and are generally cheaper to buy and feel more comfortable. The micro pave setting is another pave design. This style uses smaller diamonds and they are set even closer together than the other two styles. They have less diamonds, only covering a fraction of the band, and therefore cost less.
As with any diamonds you purchase, it is prudent to consider the four C’s; cut clarity, color and carat. Remember that the cut defines the appearance, cut and style of the individual diamond. The number of blemishes and inclusions (fine cracks) determines the quality of its clarity. Color is the color of the diamond; for example, colorless or near colorless. Carat is the weight of the diamond in measurements of carats. Taken into consideration all of these make for a high quality diamond or one of lesser value.
It is a good idea to have a qualified jeweler inspect your ring periodically to make sure the stones are well set. This ring design is not easily re-sized once it is made. Deal with reputable jewelers that provide quality workmanship for this special design. Shop for affordable stones and select your favorite pave design.
