On Where to Use a Red Rug

Decorators know how to add a spot of color to a drab looking room. Sometimes, they suggest the addition of a simple red rug. A plain colored rug can help to dress up any room. Yet a decorator might shy away from using a single color in any very large area rugs.
Such floor coverings appear more elegant when they contain multiple colors. Persian carpets often cover a large area, and they contain a great many different colors. Indeed any of the Oriental carpets can fill a large floor area with multiple colors.
Now it should be noted that any large area rug works best, when placed on a wood or stone floor. The rug owner that tries placing a large floor covering in a room with wall to wall carpeting is going to run into problems. That large floor covering is going to bunch up in places.
Persian carpets were designed for use in homes without carpeting on the floor. In Iran, families normally roll their carpets up during the summer, and store them on the roof. During the hot Iranian summers, they prefer to sleep in proximity to a cold floor.
During the cold winter months, Iranians tend to use carpets in a variety of ways. Sometimes they use a small pile of carpets in place of a mattress. Sometimes they use a large carpet in place of a blanket. In addition, Persians have long taken to hanging carpets on the walls.
Iranian children have learned how to incorporate Persian rugs into their play activities. They know how to hide behind a floor covering that hangs on the wall. They respect the beauty of such items, and they remove their shoes as soon as they get inside of their home.
Yet when young children get older, they realize that no technology can safeguard every carpet. Some Iranian teens have confiscated and sold a stolen rug.
