Types of dental treatment

If you wake up with a terrible toothache, the first thing that you would want to do is to see a dentist and get treatment to stop the pain. If your teeth are cracked, crooked or misshaped, chipped, stained or discolored, or even missing, you should think of going to a cosmetic dentist to get dental service and treatment for your tooth problems.
Dentists offer a lot of dental treatments to patients who need teeth restoration procedures. The treatment and price rates will vary from one dentist to another and will depend on other factors such as your location and the extent of work to be done.
Before the dentist gives you treatment, he or she will first conduct an oral examination or dental x-rays to determine the problem. Your dentist will then explain to you what type of dental treatment you need to solve your problem. With the development of technology, dentists can now address all kinds of dental problems using the latest methods. Here are some of the types of treatments dentists commonly perform on patients:
Filling is a treatment to fill cavities with a composite that seals the tooth and stops the cavity from growing. If your tooth is heavily damaged or broken, the dentist will place a crown to permanently cover your tooth. Crowns are usually made of porcelain, metal, or a combination of both.
If the decay in your tooth has reached down to its roots, the dentist will perform a root canal treatment where a hole will be drilled through your tooth to get access to the pulp, clean it and fill it back again using a permanent filling. Extraction is the last option your dentist will resort to if the tooth has been decayed or broken and cannot be saved anymore. There are other dental treatments but these are the most common. My family dentist in Westerville has done an amazing job of saving my decaying teeth and restoring my smile.
