What Type of Pantry Door Is Best

March 1, 2010 by GuestPoster

There could be more than one answer to this question of which is best.  Best is a relative term used to describe something unique in different situations.  Your kitchen may be one that is designed to have a clear paned pantry door because this is in line with your other cabinetry.  Cabinet doors and other hardware features are what make In another instance, a frosted glass or otherwise opaque door will be best.  The decor of your kitchen space is really what determines this.  Then again, some kitchens don’t even have the set up that allows for a pantry at all.

The way that a pantry is designed will lead to how the door should look.  There are different styles of wood and glass designs available.  Some doors are made of a light oak while others use a darker, mahogany finish.  These are mostly for esthetic purposes, but they also affect pricing.  The use of more exotic woods, like walnut, cherry and mahogany will raise the price tag.  But, in the right situation, these doors make for a truly unique look.  Another way to enhance the look and function of your pantry door is with custom hinges.  The hinges can be made of solid brass, brushed nickel, or satin finishes made of heavy-duty ball bearing designs.  These allow for a smooth swinging door for years to come.

As we’ve talked about, the glass and wood framed door is the most common style.  There are also laundry room doors that utilize this similar design.  Some manufacturers make them both with only the etching on the glass that can differentiate the two.  In other words, the words ‘laundry’ or ‘pantry’ can be etched into the glass panel insert itself.  This makes identification easier, but is also an esthetic design.  If you want to give your kitchen that extra little edge of appeal, think about these types of pantry doors.
